CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP ME UNDERSTAND MY ABNORMAL BLOOD RESULTS?

Hi I just wandered if anyone could help me understand my blood results, I first went to my doctors complaining of back ache, this has been going on since Aug 2011! I have been on paracetamol with codeine tabs since then and I have been to Physio which didn't really help since doctors said it was muscular. Since then i had been back to my doctors and was sent for a blood test which came back abnormal, my doctor has now precscribed me 40,000 a day vitamin d and calcium tabs.. but what now? i've not been given any kind of diagnosis?? kinda worried now

ESR 40 (HI)
WHITE BLOOD COUNT 10.44
MCHC 31.1 (LO)
NEUTROPHIL COUNT 7.30 (HI)
SERUM GAMMA-GLUTAMYL 102 (HI)
CORRECTED SERUM CALCIUM 2.23

CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP ME UNDERSTAND WHAT THIS ACTUALLY MEANS.. DOCTOR SAID NOT TO WORRY, BUT HAS REFERRED ME TO A SPECIALIST AT THE HOSPITAL, I'M CONFUSED???

ANY ADVICE COULD HELP?

THANKYOU

I understand your frustration.  I can only second what 4slenderthread has said though, that your doctor is going to have to be the one to help with an accurate diagnosis.

If I were you though, I'd take comfort in the fact that you weren't given a rush appointment.  If they feel you can wait the 4-6 weeks, I'd say they're feeling that it's safe to do so.

My white blood cells have been in the 10-16 range for the last 8 months and something I've been doing that's helped to bring the inflammation down while I wait for a diagnosis is to go on an anti-inflammatory diet and that, although not easy at first, has helped me quite a bit.  Last time I was tested they came in at 8 which is the lowest they've been in quite awhile.  This would be my only recommendation for you as you wait for your doctor's opinion.

Wishing you well,

Laura

I guess i just don't want to have to wait 4-6 weeks for a consultation with a specialist. (impatient patient if u like) I know i have some kind of inflammation in my body but I don't know where!

When it comes to such tests, it is best to see your doctor (or specialist) and allow them to do their jobs. After all, that is why they are getting the 'big bucks!' If I had any test results I (felt) I needed explained to me ... I certainly would prefer to receive it from those people that honestly know what they are speaking about, once and for all!
