Chest pains
I am a female who turns 20 next month. The past few days I've been having chest pains. It hurts and is very uncomfortable. When I take deep breaths its hurts even more. Also I should mention I was born with a heart murmur but it's never affected me or bothered me.Could it be anything serious?

I dont remember anyone hugging me tightly so I don't think its that. a pen would describe it more but when i take deep breaths it feels like a pen stabbing me in the center of my chest and around my chest feels like squeezing almost.
I think Im going to get checked out tomorrow. It hasn't been as bad today as the last two days. Asthma does run in my family though.
or have you got hugged tightly or had any pressure between your breast because the SAME thing happened to me and it was because the bone that holds our ribs together got squeezed so tightly. and it hurt everytime i breathed in
it happens to a lot of people. It happens to me all the time. Just take a deep breath in really slow if it happens again.

The symptoms could be exacerbation of the GERD. It could also be hiatal hernia. Treatment is a combination of drugs to reduce the acid and lifestyle changes. You will need to take a combination of medications (under medical supervision) like a proton pump inhibitor such as omeprazole, lansoprazole or pantoprazole empty stomach in the morning and an antacid gel after meals for complete relief. Possibility of H pylori infection too should be looked into by a carbon urea breath test and a combination antibiotic tried. Many a times a persisting H pylori infection can be the cause behind acidity not responding to treatment.
Life style changes that will help include: Avoid heavy meals and eat frequent small meals. Avoid too much of caffeine, tea, smoking, fried food and drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic fuzzy ones. Avoid heavy exercises within 4 hours of a heavy meal. Raise the head end of the bed by pillows to 30 degrees. Avoid lying down for least 2 hours after food. Maybe these tips will help you.
Other than this severe anemia, asthma and costochondritis too could be the cause.

Is it near your breast? I have had that problem to find out that it was fibrocystic breast disease.
No this isn't nothing serious. It's probably when you get a catch. Your rib cage protects your lungs and there is a lining between your ribs and lung kind of like Vaseline and when it's not there, it "Catches" and causes a sharp pain that feels like something is stabbing you. For a visual image, ball your fist up so that you can see your thumb facing up and take your hand and put it on the part of your fist where your fingers are. Now when your lungs expand (your fist) it rubs against the rub cage (your hand covering fist) and if there is no lining there it gives you that pain. Does this help?
