Hand Swelling...

Almost every morning when I wake up, my hands are swollen.  It goes away within a half hour of getting out of bed. Has this ever happened to anyone else? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks for the advice! I already have hypothyroidism but the hand swelling is new and all my thyroid levels are normal as of right now. I'm beginning to suspect adrenal malfunction because of my other symptoms- extreme fatigue, dizziness, salt cravings, muslce weakness/joint aches, and new headaches. All of these symptoms started around November. The only thing I can compare the swelling in my hands to is the same hand swelling I have when I am exercising- which I am not lacking.

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
I think this could be due to fluid retention. Fluid retention can be caused by adrenal malfunction, deficiencies of potassium, vitamin B complex, or vitamins B1, B3, or B6, food allergy, hypothyroidism, anemia, constipation, and lack of exercise. It could also be due to carpel tunnel syndrome. While lying down the circulation slows down and hence fluid retention is seen in hands and at the tail bone.
Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage.  Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

Hi I know you commented on this old post but something interesting you said fluid retention at hands and around tailbone. I have a lot of tailbone pain and also fingers feel tight and swollen. What could be the cause of this ?

I get this a little. Is it severe or mild. Is it pitting ie if you pressed your finger into the swelling for 10 seconds does the imprint last a while?

It could be a number of things. Arthritis or other things.

Take care.
