Small white bump on upper right cheek

For the past several years I have had a very small white bump on my upper right cheek, about an inch lower than my eye. It looks like a whitehead. When I first noticed it about 8 years ago I tried to squeeze it and it started to hurt. I left it alone for a long time until recently I accidentally scratched it and now it hurts whenever I touch it. It feels really hard, but it's weird that it has been present for so ling. Any ideas? It never has really bothered me and whenever I have gone to the doctor I never think to ask about it!
