What could cause the edge of my tongue to look red and sore?

Hey there!

The tip and front edges of my tongue is irritated, red and sore. I also have a white tongue that seemingly began at the same time; of which I scrape every morning. Could this all be an infection or could it be something else?
This has been going on for over three months, and no GP has been able to help get rid of it :(

The redness gets less severe and then more severe again a week or so later, but its ongoing. I have been afraid of it being something severe, please help!

Hello~It sounds to me like you have a severe Vitamin B deficiency, this will cause the tongue to look red and be sore, I know, it has happened to me. I suggested taking a good, high potency B vitamin, add to it, extra B-12 and B-1. Also, add some brewers yeast to your diet, this is chock full of B vitamins as well. I like to put a teaspoon on my cottage cheese or pop corn, it tastes yummy on pop corn actually.

Give this a try, it should get better in a few weeks to a month.

No, one thought it was Oral thrush and , but a swab proved that not to be the case. Another thought it was potentially a bacterial infection, but antibiotics were ineffective. So essentially they arnt worried but they have no idea whats going on.
