Kidney pain or back pain...help?

In Sept 2017 I was taken to A&E with severe pain in my back right hand side just underneath my ribs. After many scans, tests and ultrasounds I was told I had kidney stones. After months more of scans and wasted time I saw a kidney stone specialist who has said the stones are still in my kidney and that the pain I am still experiencing is not caused by them.

I'm now at a loss as to what it can be as I was sure the two were related, especially with so many people confirming kidney stones do cause a lot of pain. After being told to go back to my GP by the stone specialist I am now not sure what to do. He believes the issues are in my ribs instead of my kidney but

Hello~ Do you have the following symptoms:

The most common symptom is severe pain, usually in the side of the abdomen, that's often associated with nausea.

People may experience:

Pain areas: in the back or side part of the body

Pain types: can be severe, sharp, or sudden in the abdomen

Pain circumstances: can occur during urination

Gastrointestinal: nausea or vomiting

Urinary: blood in urine or frequent urination

Also common: sweating

Your pain could also be due to Gall Stones:

Gallstones can vary in size and number and may or may not cause symptoms.

Can have no symptoms, but people may experience:

Pain areas: in the back or upper-right abdomen

Pain types: can be severe

Gastrointestinal: indigestion, nausea, or vomiting

Abdominal: cramping from gallstones or discomfort

I am almost thinking your pain is related to gall stones since the pain is on the right side. I would see another doctor and get a second opinion

I hope you feel better soon.
