Diagnosed with Oral Thrush, but tested negative for HIV.

I am (or was) a healthy 34 years old guy. Beginning of February 2012 did something stupid and had intercourse (protected) with a girl, however she gave me oral sex without a condom. Afterwards I started to panic and took a series of tests:

HIV Ab/Ag -- 5 weeks, 9 weeks and 4 months 1 week after the incident -- Negative

Syphilis, Gonorrhoea, Chlamydia, NGU -- Around 3 months after the incident -- Negative

Hepatitis A, B and C -- 4 months 2 weeks after the incident -- Negative (except for Hepatitis A, positive, probably I had this when I was a child)

Around 4 months post incident I started to get little bumps in the corners of my tongue (in the front part). It's about a month since then and the bumps are still there, and it's annoying because when I talk the tongue touches the teeth and it can be bothering. So I went to my GP who took a swab test and was confirmed with oral thrush. The thrush is not painful, the white layer is not thick, and after eating or washing my mouth properly the tongue looks better. However my tongue is very white specially in the mornings.

I also have a LOT of saliva. I am swallowing every minute because there's just too much. I was reading this can be caused due the bumps (ulcers?) on my tongue.

I had fluconazole 50mg during 7 days and did nothing. I am currently using as a mouthwash Corsodyl who seems to help a bit, but in general, the problem persists.

I have an appointment with my doctor in 2 days. Please advice what else could cause thrush. I don't suffer of Diabetes and I was not taking lots of Antibiotics so I don't understand how this is happening.

Does anyone is in a similar situation? How did you solve it?

No-one in my family or me have arthirits, lupus or fibromyalgia.

I suffer from allergic rhinitis and I was eating tons of chocolates in the last months and I was extremely stressed and maybe not eating well. I am not sure if those factors combined could lead to thrush.

I will try Nystatin. Thanks in advance!

Try taking Nystatin oral solution. I forgot what % the prescription calls for, sorry! Do you take any inhalers or have any immune conditions in your family, such as arthirits, lupus, fibromyalgia? Thrush is a yeast... similair to the yeast infections that women sometimes get. I'm sure this is NOT what you wanted to hear.  Blessings, MG
