Easy bruising

My husband has been diagnosed with von Willebrand disease. My youngest son has symptoms and labwork that suggest the same. I have never had easy bruising overall, I do have heavy menstrual bleeding but always attributed that to Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.

We have noticed that my sons easy bruising comes and goes, and based on what we've been told about clotting factors, I understand how that might be the case, however, we noticed that he tends to have periods of easy bruising lasting a few days to a week. During those same periods, I often find bruises on myself, as well. At first, we thought it coincidence but it is the case more often than not. Is there any environmental cause to easy bruising that could affect us both, or a condition that we might share that, given some stimulus would cause us both to bruise easily in the same time period?

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
If both of you are having bruises at a particular time, then it could be urticaria or allergic dermatitis. Urticaria is usually triggered by allergens, such as drugs, foods, insect bites, inhaled substances, in response to sunlight, cold, heat, stress, exercise, or a viral infection. Other common allergens are pollen, mold, dust, pet dander, or cosmetics. Just go over these possibilities in your mind. Something may strike you.
Hope this helps. Take care!
