Flaky skin

i had a spot on my arm (about quarter sized) and it was very itchy. i tried not to scratch it but no matter what i applied to it, it would not stop itching. finally it stopped on its own (after a month or so) and it has left a very dark spot on my arm. i then noticed (after scratching) a new spot at the top of my eyebrow. At first i figured it was was due to sweat (until i looked in the mirror and noticed it looked just like the spot that was on my arm).  Again after a month or so stopped itching all on its own. now i have another spot on my neck and on the side of my face. i have been to see a doctor which scraped it and was going to see if he can grow things from it (gross), yet no call from him.  He tells me he has no idea what it may be.  he perscribes me a few topical steriods (that had no effect on it).  it still itches, it still flakes, and still leaves marks. so my question is, what COULD this be, and COULD i have contracted something crazy while i was in Africa? i have been back for a year  and the spots are STILL poppin up on my upper torso. Please HELP!

try something called hydrolatum got to the pharmacy ask for it they have it..as soon as you jump out the shower put it on when you skin is moist...that should help a whole lot..until you see a dermatologist.
