My grandma has suffered from a cervical spine related illness for as long as I've lived. The disease is caused by compression of nerves in the cervical vetebrae.

I'm Chinese. My grandma has suffered from a cervical spine related illness for as long as I've lived. The disease is caused by compression of nerves in the cervical vetebrae. I don't know the English word for it, and I desperately want to know the disease's name in English and possible treatment options, because there is no cure, or even medicines that can alleviate her symptoms available in China. Every time the disease goes off, she experiences the following symptoms: dizziness (as if the room were spinning), severe vomiting, headache. The doctor also found an aneurysm in her scan which may explain why her symptoms have gotten worse last year. Could anyone please direct me to the right disease name and possible treatment options for her cases? Thank you very much in advance!

Thanks for your answers. Is there any oral medication that can effectively stop the vomiting and the severe headache that "causes the room to spin"?

Spinal Stenosis:  I've got it  - symptoms sound familiar .  The problem in my case was compounded by a blown disc between C6 and C7.  The disc was eventually replaced with an artificial one, and the numbness eventually disappeared from my left had and arm.  The nerve for the tricep was permanently damaged though, as it still doesn't kick in when I'm exercising.  Moral of story -  don't put off medical attention....

I think it is Spinal stenosis which occurs mostly in people older than 50.  Diseases such as arthritis and scoliosis can cause spinal stenosis. Symptoms might appear gradually or not at all. They include pain in the neck or back, numbness, weakness or pain in the arms or legs, and foot problems. Treatments include medications, physical therapy, braces and surgery.
