Help me please!

Here's a conversation I am having with a doc over the net about my symptoms. Actually, I'm not even sure if they are symptoms. I would add to this that I experienced some pretty mild abdominal pain for a few days, right under my rib cage. Also, it sometimes takes a second or two for me to get my urine flow started.  Is this considered hesitation? It's steady once it starts, other then extremely mild dribbling and I can't really tell, but I think it's normal strength. LIke I said, I can't tell, as I don't go around asking people about their urination. I'm trying to avoid going to the doctor if I don't need to. As I've got an appointment with a gastro on the 22nd as it is, and I've been in and out of Docs offices for the past 4-5 months... Plus I'm on my mom's insurence, and I'm not having a easy time convincing her there's a problem, beyond hemorrhoids or IBS.

I am an 18 year old female, last week I noticed my urine was foamy. I hadn't even considered the possiblity that this was a health problem till I did a web search. I just went to the Dr. today to do a test to see if I have a UTI because I took a home test that was positive. So my questions are: Are a few air bubbles in urine normal? Can I wait till my endrocrineologist appointment, (In about 10 days). Or is this something immediate? Could a infection of the Bladder cause foam or does foam mean it's spread to the kidneys? Finally, Can I wait to ask my endrocrineologist about this at my appointment 10 days from now?

Optional Information:
Gender: Female
Age: 18

Already Tried:
Home test, urine test at doc's office.

Greetings.

Do you have any urinary burning or increased frequency or any other symptoms?

Did the urine test at doctor's office show infection?

Are you diabetic?

What is the reason of the endocrinologist consultation?

Hello,

I would not be worried if your urine is foamy once in a while and especially if you are not drinking enough water and fluids. A persistent foamy urine may point to protein in urine, which will need further evaluation. So crux would be urine examination report. With no other significant symptoms, at this point of time, this is not likely to be concerning. This is not an emergency and this can wait till your endocrinologist's appointment. As I mentioned it is neither the bladder infection nor the kidney infection; which is likely to be causing the foamy urine. Please read this authentic resource;

Ok. Well, I've been keeping very hydriated recently. Which has caused my urine to be clear for the most part, (didn't report this to you as a symptom because I chalked it up to my drinking lots of water). What I'm wondering though is: should there be absoulutely no air bubbles in the urine or are a few air bubles always present?

Hello,

A pus in urine will denote infection and will need antibiotics. Though again a pus is not a common symptom.

Thanks! Wanted to let you know about how my appointment and test went: The test turned up negitive. The endrocrine Dr. did a finger poke which showed my blood sugar was normal. He also said that he didn't think foamy urine occasionally was anything to be concerned about. I'm unsure of what occasionally means though. And what is ment by foamy? I at least once or twice a day have some attached air bubbles in my urine, is this foam? The do not appear white or frothy.

Ok, I've actually got a question or two more. (Trying to rap this up, since I know I'm continueing to ask questions and not pay you.)
A. Do you think my Endrocrine Specialist is acting responseibly here?
B. I saw someone on Yahoo answers suggest that you can test your urine for protine by heating it in a glass tube,(prosumibally he was suggesting doing this at home.) Is this at all effective or is he incorrect?

The "pus" was a slightly yellow discharge, I've read in medical books that vaginal discharge turns yellow when exposed to air, so I'm unsure now if this was in fact pus.

And finally, I forgot to mention that my GP prescribed antibiotics just incase I had an infection.

Oh! And I should mention that I've been having digestive issues for which I've been seeing a Gastro specialist, (Costipation, Diarria, Bleeding). Can't believe I didn't mention this before now.

Hello,

Endocrinologist has advised you correctly.

Yahoo answers are frequently incorrect. Proteins checking in urine needs a reagent to be checked at home with heating, so just heating would not help.

The vaginal discharge can mix with urine and they can give picture you mentioned.

Your gastrointestinal symptoms need thorough evaluation, by a colonoscopy and a barium meal follow through study.

Colonoscopy? Would a sigmoidoscopy be suffecient? In fact, I was told that it was unlikely that a Gastro would be willing to perform a colonoscopy on an 18 year old.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Urethral strictures due to recurrent UTI, a stone blocking the urethral opening of the urinary bladder, and certain cancers of bladder cause dribbling urine and hesitancy too. Foamy urine in the presence of dribbling, hesitancy and pain abdomen is most likely to be due to stone or UTI. Please consult an urologist.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
