Hernia????

I am wondering if anyone can tell me if you always get heartburn with a hiatus hernia?  I always have this feeling of fullness even if I haven't eaten, it gets worse after I have eaten.  My stomach always feels tight, like it is ready to explode.  Does anyone else experience this and if so, could this be a Hernia or something else?

Hi
Thanks for keeping me posted!
As I mentioned earlier liver and gall bladder problems are possible. I am not sure about kidney problem due to the position of your pain, stomach fullness etc. It has to be something related to the digestive system like stomach, gall bladder or liver. However it is very difficult to comment without examination.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

I have seen a doctor, he felt the hernia in a test he did, and he has scheduled some test for April 27 which is so far away, which is why I have tried to get help in the meantime.
I rarely get heartburn.  I get the bloated full feeling after some meals, even small ones.  I don't see a correlation to what I have eaten.  All the pain is above my waist, the majority of  it on my right side.  Sometimes it is just above my waist, but mostly higher up.  The weirdest thing is not being able to lie down on either side without the opposite side giving me a sharp jab.
This why I wonder if it could be liver or kidneys?

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
Pain and discomfort or heart burn in your chest could be acidity. The other reason could be due to esophageal reflux (GERD), where the food in your stomach is thrown up into your food pipe or esophagus. This also causes burning sensation or discomfort in the chest area. Another possibility is hiatal hernia, where a portion of stomach herniates into the chest cavity through the diaphragm. This causes acidity like symptoms and fullness of stomach too. Another possibility is associated gall bladder and liver problems which can lead to fullness of stomach and pain on eating. Gastric ulcers too behave this way.

Omeprazole is a good drug to combat this. Along with it you can try over the counter antacids. However I would recommend you see a doctor and take medication under a doctor’s supervision. Avoid heavy meals. Avoid too much of caffeine, tea, fried food and drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic fuzzy ones. Avoid heavy exercises within 4 hours of a heavy meal. Raise the head end of the bed by pillows to 30 degrees. Go to bed at least 2 hours after food.

Hope this helps. I would strongly recommend you to see a gastroenterologist (a specialist who looks after the diseases of our digestive system). Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

read my question entered as stomach pain and see if the symptoms are similar.  So far what you posted is the same as mine.
