Why do my finger tips smell like garlic?

I have been having garlic smelling finger tips for about 6 months now. No one else can smell it. At times it's super strong and pungent and sometimes it goes away for maybe a day at most. I do have chronic back pain and stomach issues but those seem to be unrelated to this garlic smell. I have literally tried washing my hands and the smell is not phased at all and still very strong, but then ask my husband or a coworker(odd and embarrassing)  to see if they could smell it. Of course they couldn't and so I brought it to my doctor with no answer. I am wondering if anyone knows what could cause it or why I smell it and no one else does. It's driving me crazy!!

Check out phantosmia.

Does your chronic back pain by any chance has caused some emotional disturbance?

If yes, it could be a factor.  If not, there are numerous possible causes.

It would take a very extensive interview to narrow it down to a specific cause.

Best wishes,

Niko
