Left side Abdominal pain

Hello all,

Two days ago I woke up with left sided abdominal pain.

Symptoms:
- It’s about belly button high, and halfway in between my belly button and side.
- stretching is very painful
- Walking is painful
- standing up from seated position is painful
- contracting muscle is NOT as painful
- I have had kidney stones and know it’s not that
- no bulge indicating a hernia anywhere

I went to my GI doc as I was worried about diverticulitis, but I had actually had a colonoscopy in December and it called out “no diverticulosis” so my GI said highly unlikely.

I don’t have any recollection of an injury to my abs recently, really just woke up with this pain (I’m 36 and decently fit).

I did have an extremely heavy snowfall that I shoveled, but that was 5 days ago and like I said no recollection of an injury happening. This pain is pretty intense though. Twisting, stretching, and walking are really tough to even do at this point.

Can an ab injury this painful really happen without an actual injury?

Could be a hernia. Have you seen the GI doc about this, or was the appointment you mentioned an earlier appointment?

I had been working with my GI most of 2022 with upper left sided pain (completely different than this) and ended up having a colonoscopy on 12/20/22 that came back clean.

When I got this pain, I went into my GI same day, and they said it seems muscular based on physical exam but wanted to do blood and CT. I am still paying off last years medical bills so didn’t want to go down that path again…
