My daughter has tiny pustules that began under her right arm pit and have multiplied around her shoulder and down by her ribs then curve around to her groin between her leg and pons region...the bumps are painful and they seem to be accompanied by a very dry scalp just over her ear on the same side of her body.

Blistering rash is generally due to chicken pox, herpes shingles or poison ivy. Is there a chance of your daughter having any of these? It can be herpes or poison ivy or any other allergy as one side of body is involved. Blisters can be caused by intense rubbing or friction. Blisters can also be a part of contact dermatitis like contact with soap, detergents, powder etc. Pemphigus and bullous pemphigoid are the other conditions that should be ruled out.
There are other causes of blisters too but probably they do not apply in your daughter’s case. These are Dermatitis herpetiformis, chronic bullous dermatosis, cutaneous radiation syndrome (following a radiation--maybe for cancers or X-rays or CT scans), and Epidermolysis Bullosa. You need to consult a skin specialist. Hope this helps. Take care!

Hello I agree it is difficult to say.  It is possible it could be shingles as well as the staph type infection previously suggested.  There are numerous things that could be causing it.  I recommend her see the doctor so he can look at the pustules and culture any drainage etc.  I Hope This Helps!

Its kind of hard to determine without seeing the actual sores, but it could be staph infection. MRSA (methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus) which is a type of staph infection is serious, if MRSA is suspected she should be taken to a doc asap. Staph can progress to impetigo (crusting of the skin) which might explain the area above her ear. Can you image search staph or MRSA and maybe give us a good description of the pustules?
