The Weirdest Vertigo I've Ever Experienced

Hello,

I'm writing about some awfully strange "dizzy" spells I've been having lately - for lack of a better word. This started last year with ABVD treatment for Hodgkin's Lymphoma and I just wrote it off as part of the chemo side effects. This type of vertigo that I'm experiencing makes it seem as if I've been lifted up by a giant and put back down abruptly.

I finished chemo last December and am getting regular CT scans but have found this type of vertigo to be increasing in the recent months. I will be seeing the doc next month, god willing, but just wandered if anyone had experienced this type of vertigo before. I haven't been able to link it to anything in particular.

Btw I'm 24/F.

Any similar experiences would be interesting to read about. A doctor's input would also be appreciated :).

-I will survive!

Hello!

Thanks for your response. It sounds more like an inner ear issue, then. Again, though, it is one heck of a weird feeling. Not dizziness as such with the room spinning, but just a feeling of being lifted up and put back down. I guess good old vertigo has many forms, though!

Thank you again, I appreciate it!

I am 44 years old and have had vertigo since I was 15.  It is getting worse as I get older.  It feels like things are spinning and sometimes the bed spins fast and I have to get up to get the feeling to stop.  I am get tipping and tip over and lose my balancing easily.  It's embarrassing when it happens at work.  I have Scheuermans disease and think that it may be coming either from my back and/or sinus problems.  Chiropractor says that I have the worse sinuses.  I cannot stand on one foot with my eyes closed without falling on my face.  The Chiropractor said that this has to do with my lower back and I should not be on a roof as I will fall off.  So, you can try to see if you can stand on one foot with your eyes closed.  If you cannot, it is most likely coming from your low back misalignment.  Otherwise, it could be sinuses or the equilibrium in your head.  Another thing that could be causing it is your inner ear.  Some chemos can cause hearing loss, so you might want to get a hearing test.  Hope you are feeling better.  It may have to be something that you will have to live with.  There are pills to take for it that really help.  Ask your doctor for a prescription.
