ps talk to friends and relatives for a reference to a good dr. I changed because my said "acid" and just walked out. I forgot to say that before I went to the "bad" dr I was having unbeliveble stomach and back pain, every inch of the stomach/back. So unbearable worse than labor, then vomiting. This is due to food backed up in your system. Bent over in pain, been there all IBS.
I have what you are describing. It's called gastroparesis. The basic meaning is that your stomach is not processing food though your body. It causes extream bloating after a few bites of food. Untreated you will become unable to eat or have a bowel movement. It's a form of IBS. I was put on a liquid sweet caster oil, no good. An old friend said she had had it and to ask for Amitiza. It worked! no more bloating, lost 5lbs and regular trips to the bathroom. It's still IBS so you'll find that eating certain food that are hard for the body to process like salads and meats etc will cause some pain on the left side and back. This is nothing compaired to the feeling like your stomach is going to burst open. I found the gastroparesis on line and it fit me to a T. The medication was by accident. My Dr. knew right away it was gastro but had me take a 90 min test where you eat radioactive scrambled eggs and they watch how your stomach process food. The nerves that work to move the food though were just sitting there doing nothing. I also had a ct, x-rays, and I don't remember what else. Like 5 tests. Good Luck and hope this helps if you haven't already been treated. I'd love to know. And yes, it's a chronic condition you will have for life. My Dr wrote a whole years prescription for me.
Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
Your symptoms go more in favor of abdominal adhesions, however without examination cannot comment for sure.
“Abdominal surgery is the most frequent cause of abdominal adhesions. Almost everyone who undergoes abdominal surgery develops adhesions; however, the risk is greater after operations on the lower abdomen and pelvis, including bowel and gynecological surgeries. Adhesions can become larger and tighter as time passes, causing problems years after surgery.”
“Although most abdominal adhesions go unnoticed, the most common symptom is chronic abdominal or pelvic pain. The pain often mimics that of other conditions, including appendicitis, endometriosis, and diverticulitis.” Adhesions can cause intestinal obstruction too.
“No tests are available to diagnose adhesions, and adhesions cannot be seen through imaging techniques such as x rays or ultrasound. Most adhesions are found during exploratory surgery. An intestinal obstruction, however, can be seen through abdominal x rays, barium contrast studies—also called a lower GI series—and computerized tomography.”
“Surgery is currently the only way to break adhesions that cause pain, intestinal obstruction, or fertility problems. More surgery, however, carries the risk of additional adhesions and is avoided when possible.”
