Random Lightheadedness and Nausea

Hello,

I randomly get these episodes of feeling lightheaded, and then feel a quick sweat/heat through my body.  Then a slight dizziness, and feeling faint follows.  Like I may vomit, or faint.  I try to ignore it, but often, I am too concerned about what is happening that I make it worse.  I begin to freak out about it.  It lasts for up to 15 to 30 minutes, then I go back to normal.  Any ideas why?  I am on anxiety medication, but it's still frustrating, because sometimes I can feel this while at work, in a mtg, and it's embarrassing.  Is there anything I can do to quickly snap out of this state of mind?

I'm not sure of what's causing those symptoms. But when I read this, what caught my attention was you saying your trying to avoid it. That's one thing you should not do. Considering the fact that time not spent fixing the problem  may only make matters and symptoms worse. If you feel as though it's something serious (or getting serious) then you should consult your doctor. I am very guilty of reading too much online, getting myself worked up thinking its something way more serious then what it really is. I advise you too NOT do that either. No there's nothing wrong with being aware of what could be or being your own advocate, but there are so many illnesses with those symptoms you can never really tell. My most important piece of advice is to pick up the phone and make a doctors appointment. Also, make sure you are drinking plenty of water. Dehydration came become serious, causing you to feel dizzy/lightheaded. When you feel that way and you're running around all over the place, take that 15-30 minutes that it's happening and sit down to relax.

The symptoms that you describe sound to me like it may be hypoglycaemia.  That means low sugar levels.

Make sure that you have regular healthy and well balanced meals with a healthy snack in between.  A healthy snack is: fruit, veg, nuts, plain yogurt.  Cut out or cut down on all sugary foods and drinks, processed and junk foods.  Better to have smaller meals more often.  Carry a healthy snack with you so that your energy levels do not slump.  Keep a food and drinks diary and write down how you feel.  See if there is a pattern.  If your symptoms stop with changing your eating habits, it may be a good idea to see your doctor to check your HbA1C levels, or have a fasting glucose test.

Make sure too that you drink plenty of water.  Have a bottle of water with you all the time to have a drink when you need to.  Dehydration can also make you feel unwell.

Having anxiety attacks could cause some of the symptoms, but the first thing that popped into my mind, was low sugar levels.
