New here, question about restless dreaming, lucid dreaming.

Since I can remember I have dreamt vividly. I nearly always remember my dreams, I dream the same dreams, my dreams stay with me all day quite frequently and I find a lot that when I am supposed to wake in the morning I am disturbing or interrupting dream. I can dream, get up and go back to sleep and dream the same dream. I have lucid dreamt since childhood and only recently realised it was an actual term or phenomenon. I have restless sleep and struggle to fall asleep a lot and cannot maintain a normal sleep pattern no matter how hard I try. I sleep for usually about 7hours but at the wrong time of day I also struggle to wake up. I just wondered if anyone else has these characteristics, or problems? I've never been to a doctor or taken medication for it as I can function, and often function off little to no sleep.
I feel the way I dream isn't normal, i've spoken to many of my friends about it and they don't remember their dreams or can't lucid dream etc.

First off, the ability to lucid dream is something people have to work at. Remembering your dreams in great detail is also something people have to work at. I have trained myself to do these things by keeping a dream journal and suggesting it to myself, its not something that came naturally. I like being able to control my dreams.
It sounds like what youre complaining about is more about restless sleep and dreams that tend to disturb your sleep. Again, this is something you can train yourself out of. Every night before you go to sleep, tell yourself what youre going to dream and how you're going to sleep. In fact, you can try telling yourself not to dream or that you won't be able to remember your dreams.
Also, I have slept like you before. It happens when I drink coffee before bedtime. What's your caffiene intake like? Try not having any caffiene less than 6 hours before bedtime. Do you take any medication that may have a stimulating effect? Do you smoke a lot of cigarettes in the evening? All of these things can cause what you're describing.

Do you take any medications daily? My depression medication causes me to have bizarre lucid dreams.

Lucid dreaming is normal, I have the same issue, Except the only difference is that I have no trouble getting to sleep. If you're really needing the sleep you can get a prescription for sleep medication as I have done a few times. But other than that it is normal and a large group of my friends also have it.
