Check to see if he ws given levaquin, tequin, cipro, avelox or any other flouroquinolone. He sounds like he has had an adverse reaction to a antibiotic. Check out www.fqvictims.org
Call 615 322 5000 and ask for "ONCE" or ask to speak to the intenist on call. Tell them of your father's findings and ask what it will take to get him transferred to Vanderbilt. come back with a comment to let me know what happens. Good luck.
They did say it could be encephalitis and treated him for that with antiobiotics. The doctors did not do a brain biopsy because they said it was too dangerous. Is there a doctor you would recommend at Vanderbilt?
good move. the more I think about it the more likely some encephalitis becomes. That may or maynot require a tiny brain biopsy. Please let the forum and me know what you find. Come back if I can provide other information or help.
My dad had 2 neurologist look at him and an infectious disease doctor. We live in Memphis, TN and he was at Methodist Germantown and now St. Francis. We are trying to get him to Vanderbilt now.
