multiple symptoms

The second day after an outpatient procedure involving a small incision, I got explosive vomiting, diareah and fever.  I slept for 3 days, than I got bronhical pneumonia the 4th day, the 7th day I got an infection in my joint in my foot and wrist on the 8th day I got swollen gland and pain in my neck.  It is now going on the third week and I am not well yet.  I was treated with 2 antibiotics, but don't to seem to be much better.  All I do is lay around, sleep and use heat on my neck.  What can be wrong?  What should I do next?

You need to make an appointment to see your doctor so that he can examine you and to find out if the antibiotic did work in getting rid of any bacterial infection.  It may be that the antibiotics that you were given were not the right ones to treat the bacteria that you have.

If the condition is caused by a virus, then no antibiotic will help with that and it is a matter of taking things easy, drinking plenty of warm drinks - honey and lemon is nice - eat light healthy meals, small quantities more often than a large meal (I have no doubt that at the moment you do not have much of an appetite anyway).  Any soup that you like is a good option.  Chicken consome soup is supposed to be very good for ill people.  If you would like to know how to make this, just let me know. But if you like a thick chicken soup - that is fine.

If you still feel congested, steam inhalations should help with that.
In a bowl pour in a kettleful of boiling water taking care not to get scalded.  Add some Vick or Olbas oil into the hot water.  Bend your head over the bowl and cover your head and the bowl with a towel.  Breathe in the steam through your nose and out through your mouth.  Do this 4 times a day for a duration of 10 minutes each time.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.
