Hot spinal temperature flashes

Hi!  I am 51 yrs old.  My back keeps heating up in flashes lasting for several minutes at a time many times a day.   You can feel the heat it is generating with your hands.   The whole spinal region becomes hot to the touch.   The rest of me can be hot or cold.   I get relief from a fan blowing directly on my spine.

It comes and goes despite position.   I could be sitting, standing, or laying down and my back just gets soooo hot that it becomes very uncomfortable.   It seems to be happening more frequently.

I had a complete hysterectomy in 2004, but I don't know that this is related to that.  I am not taking the hormone replacement therapy because I was having too many side effects.

My hands and feet can be cold/freezing, while my spine is hot.   It seems like my body can't regulate it's temperature.

Any ideas?  Thanks!

Several months. It seems to be occurring more often. Hot to the touch outside and hot inside. Thanks for asking.
