Small knot on my head

I have had this hard knot on the right side of my head about six inches up from my ear for over a year. It has never bothered me and half the time I do not know it is there. Tonight I noticed it while washing my hair because it was sore. Feels like a bruise. What are your thoughts on what it is and if I should worry about it getting sore? I deal with anxiety so this is definitely not helping at all.

This discussion is related to small bump on head.

Thanks for the advice. I am going to a dermatologist tomorrow to have it checked. Still very sore today but not much I can do on a Sunday.

sounds like a sebaceous cyst - I had one of those on the back of my head for about a year odd way back.  Depending on how big it is, a doctor may be able to remove it in the office, other than that, it is a surgical procedure to have it removed.

Tiff..I am not a doctor.  Do you have access to a physician or clinic where a professional could check it out?  I would think that would ease your anxiety to get somone to check it.  Good luck & hope you get a resolution.

You should get it looked at by a doctor, especially because it's sore.  Hopefully it's nothing, but you aren't really supposed to have lumps on your head, so it's best to get it checked out.
