Too Young To Die

Up until 2 years ago I was healthy and active.  Now I am sick to the point where I am bedridden and only able to get around for brief periods with the use of a wheelchair.   My symptoms include:  diarrhea alternating with constipation, abdominal pain, muscle weakness & pain, bone & joint pain, itching, profuse sweating, seizures, tremors, leftsided paralysis that sometimes lasts 5-10 mins. and other times lasting up to a week, blurred vision, eye pain, unequal pupils, headaches, dizziness, and loss of appetite. I am only 28 years old and too young to die.  Can anyone tell me what might be going on?

Needlessto say,you need acompletemedicalwork-up at a diagnostic centeror a teaching hospital. While it is quite true this may be due to a panic attack, there are other possible causes.

Hello,

These are all symptoms of panic attack. Panic attacks are sudden, discrete periods of intense anxiety, mounting physiological arousal, fear, stomach problems and discomfort that are associated with a variety of somatic and cognitive symptoms.

Causes may be stress, anxiety, hyperthyroidism, hypoglycemia, Wilson's disease, mitral valve prolapse, pheochromocytoma and inner ear disturbances (labyrinthitis). Vitamin B deficiency  can also cause panic attack. Sometimes panic attacks may be a side effect of medications such as Ritalin (methylphenidate).

A panic attack is a response of the sympathetic nervous system (SNS). The most common symptoms may include trembling, dyspnea (shortness of breath), heart palpitations, chest pain (or chest tightness), hot flashes, cold flashes, burning sensations (particularly in the facial or neck area), sweating, nausea, dizziness (or slight vertigo), light-headedness, hyperventilation, paresthesias (tingling sensations), sensations of choking or smothering.

Treatment includes anti anxiety medicines(available on prescription by a physician). When you have such kind of symptoms, Breathe slowly through the nose using the diaphragm and abdomen. Do not breathe through the mouth. Talking with a supportive person — someone who has experienced true panic attacks personally; someone who is highly trained in treating panic attacks; loved ones who can offer support and comfort.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted in case of any additional queries and how you are doing.
