Sorry Caregiver, wrong spelling!
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Yes, completely agree with Craegive. This was probably a pressure of carotid or vagus nerve with a bad vasovagal attack. However, as Caregiver said, cardiac causes too should be ruled out. Take care!
Thank you for your input. The first one involving the carotids makes sense, and I did have in the back of my mind the cardiac concern. I do have an appointment in a couple of weeks to see my Int Medicine doc, and was going to bring it up. I'm normally pretty healty, active, etc., but we all know that doesn't always make a difference. Thanks again.
I might ad, there is a remote possibility you had a cardiac event. I am not a happy camper with the fact you were nauseous. The juxtaposition of the event and the neck compression could have been coincidental.
If it happens again, do not hesitate to call 911.
If you are certain that the carotid srtery was not compressed or touched you might consider an appointment for a stress-EKG.
The liklihood is the cabinet pressed on one of your carotids, which contain the vagus nerve. When irritated the nerve drops the heart-rate and the blood pressure. This causes dizziness, lightheadness, or in some cases unconsciousness. Some people (the late Jackie Kennedy, for example) have a vagus nerve on the neck that is exceptionally sensitive.
The other alternative involves space aliens from another dimension.
Or, you could have been bitten by an invisible vampire.
