Hi, I had EBV with Mono 18 yrs ago, it lasted 3 yrs, but I wasn't a very healthy person, so I think that's why it lasted so long. I had to see a doctor and he treated me successfully with homeopathic med's. It's the most awful sense of sleepiness I've ever experienced, so bad I'd sometime have to litterally crawl to bed, and other times, I couldn't even crawl and just slept on the floor. It's no fun being sleepy for 3 years!
A lot more is known about it now then 20 yrs ago, but I remember reading that it always stays in your symptom and you can get it again if immune system weakens (as was said). And I think it is contagious, but only through very close contact, but I'm not sure. Just my personal experience... :)
Thanks .......and yes I am talking about Epstein-bar
Epstein-Barr is the virus that causes mono. It usually goes away, but some people who has immune dysfunction it may take longer. I myself was tested for EBV about 6 years ago, my blood results came back as a reacctivated infestion, meaning that I had mono at one time (don't ever remember) and when your immune system gets weak it reacctivates itself, thats what my understanding is. Hope this helps some. Take care!!
