Vision Loss with "stabbing" pains in Head

Hello - I have been getting sharp "stabbing" pains in the back of my head and when these occur I have been experiancing vision loss.  They are very random and can last from anywhere to 3min to 10min.  I did lose vision in high school and had periphial only due to a sports injury but vision was restored after being admitted to the hospital.  I do not get migraines at all.  Any idea?

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Occipital headaches—at the back of head, can be a part of migraines and temporary vision loss can be a symptom of this. It can also be due to high blood pressure, and pinched cervical spinal nerves in the upper neck. A more serious cause could be old injury causing suboccipital hemorrhage or bleeding.
Please consult your PCP for primary examination immediately followed by proper referral.
Take care!

Tell your doctor immediately!  Anything with vision loss could be very severe, so it's better to have it checked out.  If you don't have a family practitioner, find one today.
