What are medical causes for seeing auras?

Well I'm kind of skeptical about the whole 'psychic' thing but I'm running out of explanations here. I know I don't have migraines or synesthesia and I haven't been able to find much else on it.

Also the fact that I can see them even better with my eyes closed makes me wonder about it.

So anything you know that could possibly help, I would very much like to hear.

:)

How do you know they're not migraines? Often they don't have pain with them. Optical ones are seen even with your eyes closed.

Have you seen an optomotrist? There are lots of other causes like glaucoma.

Good luck.

Hi. I don't know if this is applicable to you, but when I was seeing rainbow halos around lights and yellow hazes, my doc sent me immediately to an opthamologist and found my eye pressures to be in the 40s and damaging my optic nerves. When my pressures came down, the auras went away. I was told I would have gone blind had I not had this diagnosed and treated. I have some residual vision loss. With any vision disturbances, ruling out a physical cause should be swift and thorough.
