What happened?!

I am a 16 year old girl and yesterday at work I was feeling pretty tired, and had not really eaten much either. I was ringing up a sandwhich, and talking to a customer (I work at subway) when I RANDOMLY started to get very warm, and started sweating. I'm not a big sweater, but yesterday I was wet from  my sweat. My head started spinning and I began to feel very weak. I went into the back room and was leaning over a trash can because I felt as I were about to vomit. My mouth began to feel really dry and I become a lot more dizzy, so I went into the restroom and leaned over the toilet but nothing would come out. Then I had lose of vision and my legs started to tingle and my heart was racing. I was laying on the bathroom floor and could not get up, I was so weak. After a few minutes I started feeling better, so I was able to get up off the floor. I looked in the mirror and I looked like a zombie. I'm naturally very pale, but I was extremely white and my lips were purple. I was still sweating but then I got really cold. About a minute later I was perfectly fine. I had a minor headache but thats it. That was a horrible and scary experience! I felt like I was going to pass out. I would like to know what happened? And is there anyway of preventing that to happen again?

That has happened to me a couple of times when I didn't have enough food in me.  It has also happened to my daughter, she has actually fainted a couple of times last year.  Just make sure you stay hydrated and sit down if you can if you feel it coming on you again.
