I’m a 20 year old female, and I have been dealing with tinea versicolor for going on 7 months. I’ve tried the shampoos and my doctor has prescribed me multiple rounds of fluconazole (spaced out between rounds) the rash went away after awhile, but I was not using the shampoo (I was using a natural soap on Amazon for tinea versicolor). Sadly, the rash came back after a month or so. I never stopped using that exact same soap, and I would shower normally 2-3 times a day (because I work out). There are also some other things that I have noticed that may be aligned with it and that are not normal for me to have.
I’ve had a white tongue, thick white discharge, and a flaky scalp. No pain with these symptoms, but all things that go into having some sort of yeast overgrowth. It’s just upsetting because it feels like something is happening from the inside out but I don’t know what it would be. I was just curious on what all I could do, given that the prescription didn’t work and it may be more than just on my skin. I feel at a loss and don’t know if it is possibly something with my gut or hormones. I take Wellbutrin and some other vitamins, one of them being a cycle of ashwaganda but I stopped because I was afraid that could be adding to it. If anyone has had this problem before, please let me know anything and everything you know. I’m at a loss and anything helps. Thank you!
