chronic inflammation

Hello.....can anyone advise on this please?
7months ago I was prescribed cream for a patch of dry skin above the eyebrow....I rubbed this in a straight line right across the forehead between the eyes.
After a week a red mark appeared exactly where I had been rubbing; this all around this mark swelling appeared along with intense burning and stinging, after a visit to a doctor I was given steroid cream but that only seemed to take away the pain and none of the other symptoms.
the red mark seemed to fade away but I can still see where it was, it looks like a scar under the skin.
it has now been 7 months and the symptoms still persist.
If I stroke the area it puffs up and it always seems to be worst in the morning.
It feels deep under skin and the forehead muscle always feels tight.
my symptoms are - aching, swelling, redness, sensitivity......
Is this chronic inflammation?
I have looked allsorts up and this seems to be the only possible outcome.

Any advice would be appreciated.
Ted

Hi thanks for responding.....it is not any of the 3 mentioned, my skin was dry because I had been overwashing (9 times a day for nearly 2 months), this caused my skin to become really dry which at the time freaked me out because I have never suffered so much as a blemish on my face.

I know what the cause was (as mentioned above, something has happened under the skin caused by me rubbing too hard) because even now all the redness and swelling revolves around the where the red mark appeared (which is now a scar line)
I have seen 5 dermatologists who have mentioned the following -

1st, not a clue so was referred.
2nd, thought it may be rosacea
3rd, thought I had sensitive skin not rosacea
4th, can see the scar but cannot help because I am being treated by the 2nd derm.
5th, follow up appointment with 2nd derm - carrying on treating for rosacea.

I do not have rosacea I have shown no symptoms other than flushing caused by isotretinoin I have never flushed before going on this stuff.

I have an appointment on weds with a doctor who has requested to see my, he is studying rosacea and wants to see me.
If I could go armed with information on chronic inflammation it would be a bonus.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
The dry patch and redness could be due to fungus, psoriasis, dermatitis etc. Hence there is chronic inflammation. As Caregiver said, you need to consult a dermatologist. Simply applying this cream or that will not help unless the cause is found. Take care!

You really have to obtain a consult with a dermatologist.

They are usually pretty good at diagnosing and treating this sort of problem.

Yes, it seems like inflammation, but inflammation has a cause.
