I was on Paxil for a few months and came off and experienced massive withdrawal, worse then my previous Loratab addiction. I came off cold turkey but immediately switched to Zoloft. I was on a high dose of Paxil. The only ache I had was a massive headache 24/7. Massive!! I went back on Paxil for two weeks and I'm off again but it's odd that I have no headache but I have the most horrible back pain. I never had this before starting Paxil. Last time coming off Paxil I nearly had a heart attack, I was admitted to the ER and given Benzos along with meds to reduce blood pressure and heart rate. I was only there 3 days but when I got home the withdrawal continued. I had no choice but to go back on and tapering did not help. I had months withdrawal even taking Zoloft. My opioid withdrawal lasted 3 days and was not as severe. I experienced a strong pressure in my ear, shocks, horrific pain, crying, suicidal thoughts, 24/7 panic attacks, tremors, sweating, chills, nausea, dangerously high heart rate and blood pressure, insomnia, excruciating pain with a bad fever, intense anger and mood, anxiety, insomnia, night mares, teeth clinching, toungue curled, siezures, being startled VERY VERY easily. screaming at everyone 24/7 literally, jelly legs, extreme vertigo, a overwhelming since of doom, constant suicidal thoughts, tantrums, delerious, hallucinations, and soooo much more. I had about 150 withdrawal symptoms. It was so bad that I felt that NO one can come off cold turkey after being on 120mg, not without switching to another SSRI and adding an anti anxiety med. I'm a strong person and can do almost anything but living in hell 24/7 is about a 1/1000000000000 chance of success. I actually came off Tramadol cold turkey with no substitutes and no withdrawals. Paxil is poison. Most people takes years to come off and you will still experience bad withdrawals tapering and adding another substitute. My pain is so bad I am in a fit and have my toes all curled up and clinching my teeth. The withdrawal doesn't last a few days but in general it could be a minimum of 2 months to 5 years depending on dosage and how long it was taken.
