My Mother is sick, and I dont know what to do

I am 16 years old, and I have a single mother, she is 37 years old.  She is all i have, and i am very worried about her. She is very sick, but she is trying to pretend she is not to not worry me, but the truth is I dont know what to do other then worry. She is very fatigue, has joint pain, constant headaches, pain her her left hip and now most recently chest pain as well. Her back hurts when she bends, and her hands and figures swell. She gets random fevers, and is having a lot of trouble. I would understand if my mother was 50 but she is just 37, and she has all this wrong with her. Her doctor *****, and keeps giving her more and more medicine that dont fix anything. I cant bear to hear or watch my mommie being so ill. She had a historoctomy, and had constant hot flashes, that make her very uncomfortable. I really dont know what is wrong! Niether does she or anyone else! The just pain is starting to scare me, and her hands being so delicate now she can barely open a soda. I just dont know what to do or think of it! I need help! Does anyone think they know what is wrong? Any suggestions? PLEASE HELP ME!

I'm so sorry that you're going through this, as well as your mom.

I would encourage your mom to try going to another doctor to get a second opinion. And if that doctor doesn't work than get a 3rd opinion, until you find someone interested and dedicated to finding out what is wrong.

It could be a lot of things, but it sounds like it might be rhumatoid arthritis. But it could be other things also, and I'm not a doctor by any means so it's so hard to say.

Maybe she should be tested for Lupus or Lyme disease also. Ask her if she's had tests done for inflammatory diseases, like rhumatoid arthritis.

Good luck sweetie.

That's all good , but what does it take to get a Doctor to take the risks in these kinds of diagnoses . I have tried (on behalf of my girlfriend of 10 years) to get the Doctors to do something and it did no good. She still goes through more than she should and noone seems to know why!

Hello,

It is great to see how much concern you have for your mother. It’s a thing that your mother should be proud of.

It is very difficult to make a diagnosis without examination but some possibilities for your mother’s symptoms are fibromyalgia(a disorder classified by the presence of chronic widespread pain and tactile allodynia(pain even on touching)  ,chronic fatigue syndrome(often manifests with widespread myalgia and arthralgia, cognitive difficulties, chronic mental and physical exhaustion)  ,polymyositis (means 'many muscle inflammation') ,arthritis(rheumatoid, gout) and polymyalgia rheumatica(an inflammatory disorder that causes widespread muscle aching and stiffness, primarily in your neck, shoulders, upper arms, thighs and hips. It literally appears overnight, but the cause may be a problem with the immune system, perhaps involving both genetic and environmental factors).

Hysterectomy is a state of induced artifical menopause. So it can also lead to joint and muscle pains due to hormone fluctuations.HRT(hormone replacement therapy) is required in such cases.

Complete physical examination along with investigations like ECG(to rule out cardiac causes for chest pain) ,ESR blood, platelet count Rheumatoid factor, uric acid, creatine kinase, electromyography and muscle biopsy may be needed to make a diagnosis.

I feel that a physician or a rheumatologist will be the best person to get an examination done from.So pls request your mother to get it done.
Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep us posted on how your mother is doing or if you have any additional queries
