Blue nails

A few days ago my nails turned bluish. But not completely, only around two thirds of nail surface.
By the way, I'm not cold.

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Nails can turn blue in pulmonary (lung) obstruction due to any cause, emphysema or lung disease. It is usually due to low oxygen. It may also be due to a high level of an abnormal form of hemoglobin in the blood. Rub your hands and see. If this restores the color, then this is due to the nails not getting enough blood supply. The decreased blood supply could be due to cold, constriction of the blood vessels that supply the tissues or atherosclerosis of blood vessels. If the fingernails remain blue even after rubbing, then there may be an underlying disease. It can be a part of Raynaud’s phenomenon. Please consult a doctor and get this examined. Hope this helps. Take care!
