Blind spells

My 10 yr old daughter has these strange symptoms that last only about one min. They are as follows; First she gets a sharp pain in her gut, then she sees snow like speckles, then her eyes dialate and she cant see anything but black last but not least she will then vomit, after each spell she is wore out and fine otherwise. I would like to know what would cause these symptoms.  She has had an EEG, MRI and MRA all show normal.

sounds like a migraine my older brother used to suffer with them. your daughter seemes to be showing the same symptioms best is to go to her doctor and ask them to check her to see if she does have problems with migranes where then she can be put on special medicin to reduse it.

good luck and hope she gets better

Sounds like a migraine to me,  except it's very short.  Does she have a headache during this time?

There is also something children experience,  an "abdominal migraine",  but that also lasts longer than one minute.

It just still sounds related.  The snow,  and blacking out and vomiting and then feeling tired all go with migraines.

Do migraines run in your family?

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Episodes of blackouts could be due to postural hypotension (falling with change of position), internal ear problems, cervical nerve compression, anemia, GERD, hypoglycemia or low sugar and some endocrine problems. I think you should discuss this with your daughter’s doctor and look for non neurological causes. Take care!
