I'm so glad the weight loss has stabilized. That's so scary! Hang in there and know that you aren't alone!
All the best,
Sam

Hi Nicolette:
How are you doing? Have there been any changes in your symptoms? Hopefully your weight has stabilized?
If you want to vent, feel free to post or email me at any time. It's incredibly difficult when you don't know what's going on and your own body is attacking you.
Hang in there,
Sam
i saw a urologist last week and she has referred me for a kidney ultrasound and cystoscopy but i could be waiting weeks for those.................
Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
I can understand you feeling confused. GGT is a liver enzyme but it is raised in chronic kidney disease. It is not a simple UTI. Please consult a good urologist at the earliest. Water retention, bloatedness etc will all go with proper treatment.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
i seem to be shrinking yet weight has gone up,i am carrying alot of water round and look very bloated above my tummy which is not normal for me..........i just feel tired and unwell most of the time really,my pain is managed with the tramadol and amatryptaline so atleast thats something...........
Hi Nicolette:
Is it possible that they aren't related and there is something else going on? Hopefully DoctorNee will have something more to add. Are you feeling any better? Have you stopped the weight loss or gained any of it back?
All the best and have I sincerely hope you get well soon,
Sam
thankyou for your reply,im just a bit confused as to how my urinary problems can cause a problem with the liver??
Sorry forgot to mention: I referred to this site to help you out: http://www.drugs.com/enc/gamma-glutamyl-transpeptidase.html
Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
High concentrations of GGT are found in the liver, bile ducts, and the kidney. Hence your kidney and urinary problems could be causing the high GGT level. Greater-than-normal levels of GGT may indicate:
• Congestive heart failure
• Cholestasis (congestion of the bile ducts)
• Cirrhosis
• Hepatitis
• Liver ischemia (blood flow deficiency)
• Liver necrosis
• Liver tumor
• Use of hepatotoxic drugs (drugs toxic to liver)
Hope this helps. Do consult a good urologist. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
