swollen ankels and calves with skin color purplish

My husband has had very swollen ankels and legs to his knees now for a couple of weeks. He went to the ER and theystarted him on IV treatment of rocephrin for 3 days. His right leg has since went to normal size but his left has not changed. He has since been admitted into the hospital and doing vigorous antibiotic treatment by IV. He has had all lab tests possible done and everything comes back normal. He does have toe nail fungus real bad on his left foot and wondering if that could be the contributing factor to the swelling and redness not going away.

You might ask his doctors about a possible fungal infection. They can become systemic.

why did they give him antibiotics?

the toe nail fungus might be only coincidental or it flared up because his immune system is challenged by something else, but probably not the origin of the problem.

he can try and treat it with Baking Soda. it's very effective against mold.

other effective home remedies are vinegar or bleach.

does he have any other symptoms at all? did he have cold symptoms, loose stool, UTI?

his cognitive functions are normal? does he look like he's been slowed down a bit? loss of short term memory, back pain, clumsy movements?
