I have this too - it's very weird. When does it happen to you? If I rub my hands a lot it sets them off. I first noticed it when I was a little girl and I loved to run through Macys touching all the clothes racks and feeling all the fabrics brush up against me. Even to this day, if I am not paying attention, and I do it, they swell up after touching new clothes or fabrics. I figured in my case it was some kind of allergic reaction, maybe to the starch they put on new fabrics.
Even weirder, my brother also got it all the time growing up, where we lived in a house with a large garden. We grew green beans for a farmer's market, and my mom paid us a dollar for a large grocery bag full. If he picked the green beans when they were not completely dry, his hands would redden and swell up, and itch. Do yours itch?
