swollen tongue. aggrivating.

hello 18 yr old non smoker here. i just got off lexapro about a month ago and began developing this weird knot feeling in the back part of my tongue when i spoke. about 4 days ago my tongue really swelled up. i didnt have any breathing troubles. it was just puffy. and about 2 days ago i had a nasty sinus infection. i went to the doc and he put me on zpacks and deaconex for swelling. its helped alot but now i have this hard dry feeling back by my tonsils. my tongue is still a little bit puffy. i was thinking its because of the post nasal drip. but i was curious what you guys thought.
Id like to just bring my tounge back to normal and go on.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
What you have is probably glossitis or inflammation of tongue. Most common causes are iron deficiency anemia, or vitamin B deficiencies. This can also be caused by allergies and infections. Try taking some iron supplements and multivitamins for some days and see if the symptoms persist. Dehydration is also a contributing factor. So drink plenty of water and see.
If you have a post nasal drip, then this too could give a feeling of dryness at the back of the tongue. Try steam inhalation and see.
Hope this helps. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined if the symptoms persist. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
