ventral hernia

I have had two ventral hernia repairs. One in Jan 99 and Nov.03.  I believe I now have another one.  Had pain for a short while but not now.  It is the same way as before.  The lump sticks out when I am standing but disappears when laying down. Is it ok to ignore this?  If so why not?  Please help.  I have not mentioned this to the doctor as I am tired of operations.  Have to mention that I am an obese 70 year old female.

Dear Responses,  Thank you so much for your input.  I will heed your advise and tell my doctor.  I really don't need any more problems than I already have.

I understand why you don't want more surgery.  You still need to find out what this is and if it is another hernia.  If you don't go, you will just worry and become anxious, which is never a good thing.  Better to know.  Go see the doctor.
