Thank you for your comments. I do have a dehumidifier but never think to switch it on in this heat. Another useful tip much appreciated. JeanieO.
Once again doctornee has provided top-shelf advice.
You can purchase inexpensive powdered electrolyte mixes, or buy preparations such as pediotrol at a drug store and dilute it with juice or water. Water alone isn't enough.
You might also look into purchasing a dehumidifier. Humidity often makes a room more uncomfortable that it actually is.
When you take a thyroid test (at least a TSH) remember that the number lags. If you start taking medication, it won't reflect itself in an altered TSH for many weeks.
Many thyroid problems arise because of insufficient iodine, but one has to be extremely careful in administering iodine, except under a physician's supervision. Many physicians simply go directly to a supplement.
Thank you so much for your advice. My mother and grandmother were diabetic and I also felt it could be due to thyroid. I have had a blood test and now awaiting results. Today I have a low drumming sound in my left ear (like a bubbling) so I'm not at all sure whats happening as my b/p is OK. I am taking your advice and drinking more juices. JeannieO.
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Only drinking water will not help. If you find the heat unbearable then you also need to replace the electrolytes. So drink juices, lemonade and ORS for replenishing that. Take fruits like melons with high water content. If all this does not help, consult a doctor. Maybe you have underlying thyroid disorder or diabetes or maybe even Sjogren’s syndrome. It could also be due to hormonal changes due to menopause.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
