My moms suffering

Hello,
My mother who is a 53 year old women woke up one morning over a year ago and felt the sensation like she had to urinate.  The feeling hasnt gone away since.  She gets spasim sensations and cannot sit still. Sometimes she has pain and once in a while has trouble urinating. She has been to every doctor but no one has a solution or answer. She is on several medicines including lipitor, cymbalta and other ones. She is suffering and it has severly affected her life. Please help.

Sorry to read of your mothers problem.  I would suggest she seek consultration with a doctor that specializes in the treatment of painful bladder syndromes such as Intersticial Cystitis.  You may be able to find a doctor in your area through the IC Network.

Thank you so much Dr. Mathews as your suggestion means so much.  Why would doctors at the Cleveland Clinic not think to diagnose her with this? It is really only the constant sensation to urinate that is disrupting her life.  I feel so bad for her.  Any one you can recommend in Cleveland, Ohio? Any help is very greatly appreciated.  Also, is surgery the only way to get rid of IC?
