Uro-Surgeon Best Surgeon to Repair?

I had a total abdominal hysterctomy bi-lateral salpingo oopherectomy in 6/06. In 10/06, I required an entercocele/rectocele repair.

In 2008, my my G.I. Doc discovered that I have another rectocele.

Is a Uro-Surgeon the best doctor to repair it?

Thank You,
Sheila

I would suggest you seek an opinion from a Urogynecologist if possible.   If not, you might visit with a colorectal surgeon.

I think you want a Uro/gyno if you can find that speciality in your area.  Get references and read up on the different procedures before you go in so you know what to ask and know what you are getting.

I had a large enterocele that my gyne found when he repaired the rectocele.

I actually lost a few more pounds with the surgery-I have other health issues and I weighed 76#s at the time of the surgery and dropped to 72#s, so they kept me on an I.V. the entire time.

I am not a doctor, but from my own experience, I would never have gotten the hysterectomy, because I read-later- that it like removing the anchor to your pelvic floor. My hysterectomy caused my enterocele & rectocele.

I had an entrocele and a rectoele an a sling to stop urine leak that I did not notice or have any big problem with.  What I got was a bigger problem with urine leakeage. Can't tell when I am too full so I don't always make it to the bathroom in time.  But the real kicker is my uterus has fallen.  It is almost as bad as the rectocele was.  I did not gain much with the surgery that set me back 3-4 months.  I judged the Dr. on his credentials.  He told me very little before and I had no idea so many things could go wrong.  At 70 years of age, I could have skipped this and just delt with the rectocele.  Now, I don't know what I will have to do, if I have to get a hysteroctomy or not.  It has been a mess because I did not realize there was so much info on line or so many problems with them.  I hope you find an answer to your problems.   I have answered here a few times as I know how frustrating it is to ask a question on this list and not have the Dr. answer it.

Hi, Cricket3991,

Have you had this surgery? I've read different procedures, wondering if there is a "best" one. I had an anterior repair the 1st time, and it failed.

Thanks for replying.
