had sling surgery 2 weeks ago.

I had a midurethral sling procedure 2 weeks ago. My urologist used a material called Pelvilace which I think is one of the best materials to use as it adapts to human tissue well. So far, so good. I have had no incontinence yet. I was supposed to self catheterize after surgery but even after learning in the Dr. office, when it came time to do it the day after surgery, I couldn't self catheterize but was urinating on my own. I had to return to Dr. office and they did an ultrasound to check for post-void residual and there was very little so they said I could refrain from the self cath and I see Dr. next week. The only problem I have is urinating quite frequently and a slow stream. Anyone have info about that and if it'll get better? Since I'm feeling quite well so soon after surgery, is this a sign that I'll not ever have a problem or can problems with these crop up later on? I'm trying to think of all questions to have ready for my urologist. Does the type of work one does determine how long to be off work?  I work 11 hours a day, one part-time, one full-time job, sitting at computer.  Dr. originally said I'd be off work 4 weeks.  Thank you.

OH YOU POOR DEAR WOMAN!!!  DO NOT HOLD YOUR BREATH THAT JUST BECAUSE EVERYTHING HAS BEEN GOOD FOR 2 WEEKS THAT YOU ARE IN THE CLEAR.  I HAD THIS SURGERY OVER A YEAR AGO AND THE FIRST 3 MONTHS WERE GREAT.  AFTER THAT I HAD TO HAVE 2 MORE SURGERIES IN 2 MONTHS TIME.  THE SLING WAS ROTTING OUT AND HAS RUINED MY BODY EVER SINCE.  THE STORIES THAT I HAVE BEEN TOLD FROM MY DR.'S ARE ENOUGH TO MAKE ME NEVER WANT TO SEE ANOTHER ONE AGAIN.  BEST OF LUCK TO YOU.

Urinary frequency is common after the sling procedure. It usually resolves by 6-8 weeks after the procedure.

If you are emptying well at this point, it is likely that you will continue to do so. The sling works by tightening the bladder output tube (called the urethra). For this reason, you may notice that your urine stream is slower than before the procedure.
