Physical exam

I recently had a physical for my new job and was asked to remove my clothing then as the doctor examined my private area he told me to turn my head and cough. I passed the physical.

My question is what was he checking for?

Thanks

The physician was checking for a hernia. By coughing you were increasing the pressure within your abdomen making any weakness of the abdominal wall more apparent.Turning your head was so that you did not cough on the doc.
