Something else I like that is super low in calories and fat is water crackers. They are only 10 calories each and you can put peanut butter or antipasto or cheese on them.
I don't like artificial sweeteners either.
Banana cut up with cottage cheese over and a few walnuts a favourite.
I am not a fan of artificial sweeteners either and even less so now that I have done some research on them. And, since watching a Dr. Oz episode a while back about "white death" (ei, over processed foods like white sugar, white salt, white rice, white flour... etc) I have been using more whole grains, honey or dark brown sugar, brown rice, etc. I try to do as much of my own baking and cooking as possible to avoid too many processed foods and yes, ,there are still some in my pantry since life gets hectic... but I do try hard to avoid them as much as possible.
I have been looking out for "Blue Menu" or "Eating Right" products in my grocery stores lately and have been pretty happy with them over all. They cover a huge range of products from cheeses to meats to chips and everything in between!
Yesterday I bought turkery burgers for the family and hoping they go over next time we have burgers! Also bought turkey smokies and chicken hotdogs and hoping no one can taste any difference! Planning ahead here for our up-coming camping trip and want to be sure they will go over well before they "ruin the camping trip" ya know?? ;)
Activia or Danone Creamy yogurts are the family favourites (usually around 1. something %).
Gotta try the Skinny Cow stuff... sounds yummy! :)
I don't use any artificial sweeteners. They don't agree with me and I've read a lot that your body is not satisfied and you end up eating more. I love water so drink that, tea, coffee and I have a dark chocolate hot chocolate made with skim milk in the evening as my reward although right now I am on a yeast free diet so am forgoing that.
I eat plain greek yogurt or else Activia regular. I eat ice milk fudgicles as a treat - never more than one a day. I use light mayo, low fat sour cream and becell buttery taste margarine where it makes sense (otherwise butter).
Otherwise I don't use anything else low fat or calorie reduced. I do try to use low sodium. I make almost everything homemade so no processed food is in my diet.
I really dont buy 'diet food' because I am finicking about a lot of things and I find a lot of diet foods are higher in salt and when you read the labels the calories are not significantly lower enough for me to tollerate teh lack of taste or substanance....
I really find my answer has been in smaller portions, cutting out snacking for snacking sake.... cutting out soda and caffinated drinks and drinking more water .
I love fat free cool whip & light whip creams. Skinny Cow fudge bars are one of my favorite guilty pleasures. Light mayo is all I've ever used & the same goes for 1% milk. I always buy reduced sodium versions of everything available.
I hate non-fat milk, fat free ranch, fat free cheese, & fat free sour cream. I use the full or low fat versions of all of these & I don't think that will change. I don't like turkey bacon or veggie burgers/sausages either. Probably the biggest one is I don't like any of the artificial sweeteners. I'll take straight sugar or none.
