emotions all over the place

I had counselling today,I thought I'd dealt with most things that would upset me, apparently not.I don't blame myself for the abuse anymore,I don't feel guilty and I'm moving on with my life.Today in counselling I realised I still don't have control,he is still there in my head,as far triggers, I still have a few,smells are the worst,people with moustaches,even some books,so now with my counsellor we are working on visualisation techniques to take the control back and put him out of my head and thoughts.I got upset today for the first time in ages.There's got to be a light at the end of this tunnel

hey Denise, i am glad to see you are atleast talking about your problems, that alone says alot about how far you are getting. I do believe triggers can be anything and everything and yes smells is one for me as well. I also find your comment about " not being in controll" to be interesting...see i know its hard feeling that someone else controlls your thoughts, actions, or in your case even smells, however I also know that as addicts we have a prob with not being in controll, I think it scares us because it reminds us of our drug using days...You are a very strong person and as a victim of abuse we have to accept what happened to us, talk about it, educate others, and find it in us to move past the abuse. we can not let these people ruin the rest of our lives, thats JUST WHAT THEY WANT and we DO NOT WANT TO GIVE THEM ANYTHING THEY WANT ANYLONGER...Be strong, you have made so much positive progress so just keep movin in the derection of the light...you are sepping out of the dark and into the lightness of the day..may peace move you!

It makes you wonder,does everyone get triggers from smells,I've heard so many say they do.Thanks for replying to my post.
