Baby's First Birthday Ideas

So my son was born on the 11th of February, and we were thinking of having his birthday party on that Sunday, which happens to be Valentine's Day. I have been trying to find cute ideas for the party, but its so hard to incorporate Valentine's Day when everything is pink and hearts and girly stuff. Do any of you have ideas about keeping the party "BOY" but also Valentine's Day?

A friend of mine did this for her boys' first and second birthdays. She only had friends and family over and the only kids there were family and her good friends kids.  There weren't many children there. She had a good spread of food that was for the adults, like mini-sandwiches, shrimp, etc. There was mac and cheese and hotdogs for the kids. And she had an awesome cake, although decorated for the child, that was very good. She also served beer, wine, juice, water and soda.  It was a more like a get together for family and friends and it was really nice.  I don't recall her decorating too much but that I think, is just her style.

I think hearts are fine for boy's party, esp at this age. Maybe you could mix in some yellow and blue hearts too. Think of the candy "Sweethearts". They come in a mix of colors.

Good luck with your party!

Tara

Yeah, i figured that he would not understand what is going on, and I wasn't even planning on inviting any other babies, just our family and friends (all adults). I still want to have a fun party for everyone there, and my son will just get to smash birthday cake in his face. What kind of things could I do for the adults that says birthday party/valentines day?

Your son is very young and may not appreciate a 'party'.  Have been to many 1 year parties where the celebrant slept through or cried at the unaccustomed chaos.

So my recommendation is keep it as simple as possible.  A 1 yo party is more for the parents than the baby. I will going for a dinner with my baby's grandparents and just a few of my closest friends.

You can have the party parties when he is old enough to help plan, participate and be excited.

Just my 2c. :)  Enjoy your boy's birthday.
