Just thought I would give everyone an update. Evan was born on Friday May 14th - two days after my due date. He weighed 8 pounds 10 oz. and was 23 inches long! I had a membrane sweep at my 40 week appointment on the 12th. Following the membrane sweep, I kept getting lots of discharge. Well I guess it helped - I got my bloody show at work (thank god I was wearing a panty liner) and started having contractions ten minutes before the end of my work day. I got home and the harder contractions started, so I knew it was it. The time of my contractions were all over the place. So the timing of contractions really went out the window for me. I think I just knew when I had to go. We got to the hospital around 8pm on Thursday and I was in labor until 12:30 pm on Friday. I have to say I couldn't have done it without an epi! It really helped. It allowed me to get some rest and gather my strength for pushing. Pushing was hard and painful. However, when you see your little one you almost forget how much pain you just went through. Evan had a bowel movement when he was coming out, so they had to take him right away to the nursery. His breathing was rather rapid, so they ran a bunch of tests and had him on O2. Luckily, they all came back negative and his breathing become normal. He had his first check up yesterday and received a clean bill of health. He is home now and we are all doing well - with the exception of the lack of sleep : )
