HIDA scan is to know the function of the gall bladder. In your case it is not strongly indicated however in case it shows poor functioning gall baldder (though I doubt it, as you are asymptomatic), you can plan fo surgery but if its functiion is normal (HIDA scan will tell us that) then you should opt for regular USG followup
Best wishes
Yes..Polyps of less than 1 cm are usually benign and can be left with regular followup while more than 12 mm removed as the risk of cancer increases after this size.
Best wishes
If your gall bladder polyps are 12 mm in size carry a risk of cancer so you have to decide between regular follow up or surgery.
Why the intial ultrasound was done? Did you have some symptom/ pain or just screening USG was doen? What's your age and do you have any family history of cacer? What about HIDA scan? Is it possible to get it done there?
In case you have symtomps (pain etc.) or Hida shows poor functioning G bladder or your family history is positive then you should opt for surgery
Best wishes.
Can you write the whole name of this procedure, please?
By the way, I do have some issues with the intestines, but not sure if they can be connected to gall bladder disfunction. They are as follows: meteorism (especially immediately after meal), unstable stool, sometimes I have stomach ache (especially immediately after meal, it used to be very bad, but got much better after some stomach therapy). I have applied to doctors before with these symptoms, but the exact reasons are still not found. This may be due to being nervous most of the time though.
Thank you everyone, I will try to find places where this procedure is conducted.
Thank you for your reply.
Could you still, specify, please, what HIDA is and if you consider it necessary in my case?
Thank you for reply. Do you mean that if the polyps are 3 and 4.5 mm in diameter, no surgery might be necessary?
The initial ultrasound was done due to the problem of meteorism, as far as I remember. I'm 25 years old, in my family my grandmother died from sigmoid colon cancer and the mother of my grandfather - from a breast cancer. COuld you specify please what HIDA is? Thanks in advance!
